How to get to Furrnion

Reaching Las Provincias Hotel in Fuenlabrada is quite simple, regardless of your transport.

However, to make it even easier, we´ve split it in two different possibilities:

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Whether you’re coming by air, ground or sea, reaching Furrnion will in most of cases make you stop at Atocha railway station, in the very center of Madrid, where you will have to take a commuting train (Cercanías), and finally take a healthy 5-minute walk to the hotel itself.

STEP 1

First choose your means of transport to see their specific instructions.

Step 1.1: Getting to Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport’s Terminal 4 (T4) (Skip to Step 1.2 if your flight arrives at T4 already)

  • T1 (Terminal 1):
    • Go upstairs, to the DEPARTURES level
    • Go out of the terminal building and look for the GREEN Bus with this sign: “Bus Transito T1-T2-T3-T4”. It is FREE and circulates 24/7 (departs around every 5 minutes)
    • Get out of the bus at “T4 SALIDAS/DEPARTURES” (last stop, approximately 10 minutes after leaving from T1)
  • T2 & T3 (Terminals 2 & 3):
    • Go out of the terminal and look for the  GREEN Bus with this sign: “Bus Transito T1-T2-T3-T4” It is FREE and circulates 24/7 (departs around every 5 minutes)
    • Get out of the bus at “T4 SALIDAS/DEPARTURES” (last stop, around 10 minutes after leaving from T2 & T3)

Step 1.2: Once at the T4, look for the sign of the train station: “Cercanías Renfe”.

Check the airport signs for this logo:

You will find it above one of the ramps to the lower level:

Do NOT mistake RENFE (railway) with METRO (subway). The access to both is in the same hall, so notice this: METRO station is to the LEFT. RENFE station is STRAIGHT AHEAD, AT THE END OF THE HALL. Check this photo:

Train tickets are sold in self vending machines like this one:

Use the touch screen to select your destination (“DESTINO”, although it should be available in your language). Select LA SERNA as your final destination (“ESTACIÓN FINAL”). Ticket price is under 2€.

There is one single train line departing from Barajas railway station, it’s the C1 Line. Trains depart around every 30 minutes. You have to get out of the train at ATOCHA station. Check the picture below and notice that there are 4 intermediate stops between them. The train ride will take around 30 minutes, from the airport to Atocha station.

Once at Atocha you will have to commute trains.

Step 1.3: Commuting trains in Atocha

The ticket you’ve bought at the airport station is valid up to your destination, so no other ticket is required. All the commuting train lines of Madrid come together in Atocha, so you must pay close attention or you will be boarding the wrong train and then, off you go to some unexpected tourism!. Check carefully the info signs, and switch platforms to the C5 line, destination HUMANES. Careful, if you board a train of the C5 line, destination Móstoles, you will be travelling in the right line, but the opposite direction! Again, pay close attention! Depending on the hour, there is a train every 5 or 20 minutes.

Your destination, LA SERNA station, is 9 stops and around 30 minutes away.

Step 1.1. Go to RENFE Railway Station

There is a railway station in the same bus station. To reach it, follow the signs “CERCANIAS” (commuting train station). It is also marked in the signs with a large white C inside a red circle (note that the C is inverted).

Once you have the ticket, go downstairs to the platforms. Check the info screens. You may board ANY TRAIN that stops at Atocha station. Most likely you will have 3 or more every 5 minutes. But remember, you MUST stop at Atocha station!  The commuting lines that stop at Atocha are:

  • C1 destination Príncipe Pío
  • C2 destination Guadalajara
  • C3 destination Aranjuez
  • C4 destination Parla

It is CRUCIAL to confirm the destination or you may end up travelling in the opposite direction!

From Chamartin, all these lines are just 4 stops and around 10 minutes away from Atocha station.

Step 1.2. Trains reaching Chamartín ONLY.

You must SWITCH PLATFORMS and find the one where C5 line trains, destination HUMANES, stop. Then you may SKIP TO STEP 1.4

Check carefully the info signs, and proceed to the platform of the line C5, destination HUMANES. Careful, if you board a train of the line C5, destination Móstoles, you will be travelling in the right line, but the opposite direction! Again, pay close attention! Depending on the hour, there is a train every 5 or 20 minutes.

STEP 2: A healthy short walk

Once you have left the train at LA SERNA railway station, you should take the right exit, counting the right from the direction your train was travelling (Note: in Spain commuter trains run on the right-side track, so the train dropped you in the correct side already!). Once outside, walk straight ahead, leaving a school on your left. Take the first turn to the left and go all the way down the street…which should take you around 5 minutes. The last building before the large crossing street, on the left, is Las Provincias hotel. Congrats! Achievement unlocked: You made it to Furrnion!
